Ssh. Listen to the quietude. It has been three, almost four days since Sarah Palin has been still. Let it be! (You will have to click on this link TWICE to get it to play.)
With a new week in front of us, dare we hold our breath, waiting for Palin’s next gaffe to surface? Of course, there will always be a next gaffe with her. She finds it impossible to lay low and be an observer rather than a newsmaker. However, I am enjoying the serenity, however short-lived it may be.
Shall we start an office pool on when and on what topic Palin will next explode into the media scene? I say six or seven days is the outside limit for her to remain silent. The topic? Perhaps health care reform, as our august Congress will begin that debate this week. Don’t expect any meaningful results of that discussion, as it is merely meant as a nod to the Tea Party who helped reverse the House majority in the last election. Pair up that issue with our rampant gun use, and Voila! Our country has just saved billions of dollars to invest into more foreign wars. We just killed three birds with one stone. And …… if our weapon of choice was a Glock, we would have 29 bullets left.
On the other side of the political spectrum, Maureen Dowd, the New York Times columnist, has not “made an appearance” in that paper since December? Anyone know what’s going on with her? Why the absence?
Fear not. Palin will gladly step in to pick up the void left by Dowd.
Hope your week stays quiet, but don’t bet on it.
